MyCajita: Mesa Box

Mesa Box

Nothing brings the family together like food, and sharing a meal is the best way to keep your family feeling loved and important. We want to help get you started with our Mesa Cajita, handmade linens to set the table and set the mood. These 100% cotton manteles (table clothes) and servilletas (napkins) are all made by the master weavers of Mitla, Oaxaca using wooden looms that were introduced in the times of the Spanish rule. The patterns are a reflection of the Zapotecan heritage of Mitla, and you can see it in the design and zig-zags. We think they’ll be the perfect addition to your home, and just in time for some Summer outdoor dining. Use it for the table or even as a picnic setting, the bright colors will bring the family to the table to share some food and more importantly some laughs and love. Enjoy!

 What’s in the box:

  • (1) Mantel (Size: 98 in x 53 in)
  • (4) Servilletas (Size: 9 in x 8 in)

Manteles (Handwoven tablecloth)

Marine Blue, Colonial Yellow, Pink, and Royal Purple are colors you see often in Oaxaca, colors of the traditional colonial era that built the city and surrounding pueblos and colors of the festivals that make Oaxaca famous. The 100% cotton is hand pulled and dyed, drying over a week before being stretched and wound up to be used in the wooden looms. The weaver’s apprentice for 3 years before they are able to work the looms and the large loom, used to make this mantel, is only used by experienced weavers since it has 4 pedestals and is more complicated than the standard 2 pedestal loom. Each mantel takes 2 hours to weave and the click-clack-click-clack of pedal and thread creates a rhythm that helps the weaver move at a mesmerizing pace. The manteles are 100% cotton and measure 98” x 53”.

Servilletas (Handwoven Napkins)

The servilletas are made in the same process and fabric as the manteles, but on a much smaller wooden loom. They have a slightly more complex pattern that shows off the artistry of the weavers. They are 100% cotton and measure 9” x 8”.

Upgrade your Mesa Box experience and add an additional (2) handwoven napkins for $10!!

What’s included in the upgrade:

  • (2) Servilletas

*Upgrade is available only to subscribers who did not skip and customers who purchased the Mesa box.*

We received our Mi Cajita today, July 21st, and were pleased with the Mesa contents.
Unfortunately the purple/pink colors of the mantel that was shipped to us clashes with our dining room colors.
Is it possible to exchange what was shipped to us with the other mantel of the blue/gold colors?
Kindly advise us if we can return the contents received and get in turn the blue/gold mantel.

Also is it possible to be notified of any options prior to your shipping of future Cajitas? We would have chosen the preferred colors if we had known ahead of your shipping .
    Thank you.
