Known for their intricate beadwork, the Huichol (or Wixárika) are an indigenous people of Mexico consisting of that primarily live in the remote areas of the Sierra Madre in states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Zacatecas, and Durango, and beyond.The natural barrier of the mountains has protected the Huichol people from cultural intrusion for centuries. They strongly believe that, as human beings, we must be a steward of the Earth. All of our souls are linked and man should do his part to protect nature. Their culture and traditions still live on today.

The artesanos behind this beautifully beaded set are originally from the Wixárika community of Tateikie, San Andrés Cohamiata, municipality of Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico.This family run business consists of three generations. However, the younger children must wait until they’re 18 — once they’ve completed their studies — before working with the family. Your purchase helps support these family run businesses, which, in turn, helps the local communities and future generations.
