Catrina, the Grand Dame of Death, is a symbol often seen in Day of the Dead celebrations honoring ancestors and influential people who have passed from this world.
(1) Talavera Catrina
Mexican Talavera pottery is known throughout the world for its bright colors and contrast. Originally brought to Mexico by the Spanish in the 15th Century. Don Tiburcio Mora started his family Talavera workshop over 50 years ago in Guanajuato, Mexico. It has passed 3 generations and now rests in the hands of his grandchildren, who still create, paint, and bake pottery. Their family workshop supports 20 artesanos and their families.
